GREEK MARBLE ASSOCIATION

Dionyssomarble

An important milestone

In 1877, our family reopened the ancient quarries of Mount Penteli — the source of the Parthenon's marble. Four generations later, the milestone that defines us is not just endurance but evolution: we opened our quarry to the world as a stage for fashion, music, and art. COS showed its collection inside our caves. Adriatique performed in our pit. Next year we turn 150 — and the mountain that shaped antiquity is now shaping contemporary culture.

Philosophy

Quarrying is a marathon, not a sprint. We extend the life of every site as long as possible, waste nothing, and return what we can. Through Marmoline, our building materials division, every marble by-product finds a second life. Exhausted quarries become cultural spaces — museums, concert halls, landscapes reborn. One of our quarries has been continuously active for nearly 150 years. That is not just operations. That is philosophy. We don't close chapters. We write longer ones.

Strengths

Our quarries have supplied marble for the Parthenon, St. Peter's Basilica, Hagia Sophia, the Holy Mosque in Mecca, the United Nations, and the Royal Palace of Qatar — spanning twenty-five centuries, six continents, and every major faith. No other stone company carries this depth of historical and architectural significance. Four generations of continuous operation give us not just material but perspective: an institutional understanding of how stone meets its moment — and outlasts it.

What we stand for

We don't mine marble. We mind it.

The Greek Marble Ouzeri

Marble is usually encountered in silence — in museums, lobbies, monuments. The Ouzeri inverts that entirely. Here, stone meets conversation, warmth, the clink of a glass. For a company that stages fashion shows in its caves and concerts in its quarry pit, this is second nature: take the most ancient material on earth and place it where life actually happens. Milan is where the world gathers. The ouzeri is where Greece has always gathered. This is marble among friends.

Brand Profile

Dionyssomarble is a fourth-generation family company quarrying marble since 1877, when it reopened the ancient quarries of Mount Penteli — source of the Parthenon's marble. Today the company operates quarries across Greece and the Balkans, supplying stone for landmarks from the General Motors in New York to the Royal Palace of Qatar, and remains the exclusive supplier for the Acropolis restoration. Committed to the long run, Dionyssomarble operates Greece's only zero-waste quarry, pioneered the country's first photovoltaic-equipped quarry, and holds its first ISO 14001 certification in the stone sector. Its quarries double as world class cultural venues.
